Mohammad Hafeez Signs for the Chittagong Tigers

London: Pakistan all rounder Mohammad Hafeez has signed a contract to play in the forthcoming Bangladeshi domestic Twenty/20 competition.

29 year old Hafeez who play from the Faisalabad Wolves in the recently concluded RBS Twenty/20 Cup Competition has signed a deal with the Chittagong Tigers and will join fellow Pakistani's Imran Farhat, Rana Naved ul Hasan, Imran Nazir and Shahid Afridi in the competition which runs from late March to the first week of April. Other Pakistan players are in negotiations with clubs in Bangladesh, so the list of players from Pakistan taking part in the tournament could be longer once the squads have been finalized.

Hafeez who has represented Pakistan on 68 occasions was in excellent form in the RBS Cup, scoring a superb century in Faisalabad's semi final victory over Lahore. His captaincy and all round displays enabled the Wolves to make it to the competition final, only to lose out to the powerful Sialkot Stallions yesterday at a packed National Stadium Karachi.

Speaking to PakPassion.net Hafeez's manager Umran Khan of Aces Middle East said "It's a good opportunity for Hafeez to stake a claim for a World Cup spot in the Pakistan squad and he's looking forward to playing in the competition".

Hafeez who was named in the preliminary 30 man World Cup squad announced last week by the Pakistan selectors last played for Pakistan in October 2007 in Lahore, as Pakistan lost out to South Africa.
