Int’l Cycle Race: Zahid won 2nd stage, 13 cyclists dropped

Karachi: Zahid Gulfam from Pakistan Wapda has won second stage of Tour de Pakistan International Cycle race at Gujrat Tuesday, Nisar Ahmed Sui Southern Gas (SSGC) was gets second and his team meets Mohammad Sabir Stood on Third Position said spokesmen of Pakistan Cycling Federation.

Eleven cyclists short in second stage they were have been dropped after first stage and now 51 was reached at Gujarat.

Now three more cyclists has been dropped in 2nd stage and now 48 will travel from Gujrat to Lahore with aim of third stage won, Idrees Hayder Khawaja Secretary PCF exclusively told with APNA NEWS TV.

WAPDA’s Zahid Gulfam has completed 153 KM. rout from Rawalpindi to Gujrat at the time of 3 hours 44 minutes and 44 seconds. Nisar Ahmed (SSGC) on 2nd position with 10 second deference’s his time was 3.44.50 hours and Mohammad Sabir (SSGC) gets third position with 3.47.32 hours.

Zahid Qayyoum a spokesmen of Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) said 10 cyclists were dropped in second phase because they not eligible participation due to poor finishing and disqualification.

Cyclists were happy at reaching second phase ending point on front of United Furniture man G.T. road Gujrat, DCO city Akram Javed has warm welcomed to all participants and good security and traffic arrangements “Zahid told”

Mohammad Asif Junior from Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) was the winner of first phase of Tour de Pakistan International Cycle Race from Peshawar to Rawalpindi with time of 4.46.22 hours.

Imtiaz Hussain of Afghanistan and Zahid Gulfam of Wapda were secured second and third position respectively in first phase.

Third phase will be start from Wednesday morning Gujrat to Lahore distance is 115 KM.

Lahore-Sahiwal (160km),
Sahiwal-Multan (154km),
Multan-Bahawalpur (90km),
Bahawalpur-Rahim Yar Khan (200km).
Rahim Yar Khan Sukkur (178km),
Sukkur-Moro (150km),
Moro-Hyderabad (163km)
Hyderabad-Karachi (153km).

The race will be concluding at Mazar-e-Quaid Karachi on March 13 after completing eleven stages.

The cyclists will cover total distance of 1685Km during the race.
