Asif won Tour de Pakistan first Stage

Karachi: Mohammad Asif from Sui Southdern Gas has won first phase of Tou De Pakistan International Cycle Race at the time of 4.46.22, Imtiaz Hussain (Afghanistan) and Zahid Gulfam (WAPDA) were secured second and third position.

General Secretary of Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) Idrees Hyder Khawajah has informed here we are not happy from security arrangement at the ending point at Koh-e-noor mills near Golra Chock

“Traffic Police of Rawalpindi has been failed control there traffic on the occasion of teams arrivals and our cyclists are have face very disturbing but we are very happy did not face any accident and any awfully incident on 158 Kilometers long way” Idrees Khwajah exclusively told with local TV Channel APNA NEWS.

He says we are happy with all security arrangements and our all cyclist is satisfied, he added

Asif Junior complete there 158 Kilometers rout of frist phase from Peshawar to Rawalpndi at time of 4.46.22 and Imtiaz Hosain (Afghanistan) gets second position only 10 seconds deference at the time of 4.46.32 and Wapda’s Zahid Gulfam stood on third position at the time of 4.46.42

The Cycle race second phase will start from Rawalpindi on earlier Tuesday morning and will finish at Gujrat (153km),

The 15th addition of Tour de Pakistan Cycle Race started Monday morning from Peshawar Governer NWFP Owais Ahmed Ghani was formally announced race open.

63 cyclists including cyclists from Afghanistan vie for top honor they would cover an overall distance of 1685km in 11 different stages before concluding on March 13 at Mazar-e-Quiad, Karachi.

The detail of the other stages are as under; Rawalpindi-Gujrat (153km), Gujrat-Lahore (115km), and before a rest at Lahore, the cyclists will continue from Lahore-Sahiwal (160km), Sahiwal-Multan (154km), Multan-Bahawalpur (90km), Bahawalpur-Rahim Yar Khan (200km). (Rest Day at Rahim Yar Khan).

After rest-day the cyclists would paddle off from Rahim Yar Khan Sukkur (178km), followed by Sukkur-Moro (150km), Moro-Hyderabad (163km) and Hyderabad-Karachi (153km), which will be the last stage of the Race.

It was the third occasion that the race started from Peshawar and finishing at Mazar-e-Quiad. Last year the race finished at Peshawar whereas Niamat Ali of Sui Southern Gas won the race. It is the fifth occasion that Afghanistan cyclists are taking part in the event.

FATA, Army, WAPDA, Railways, SSG and Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and NWFP cyclists are also competing in the event carrying lucrative prize money of US&10,000.
