Sattar wins Sindh Cup Snooker Championship

KARACHI: Abdul Sattar defeated Umair Alam by 6 frames to 3 Friday to win the 18th edition of the Sindh Cup Snooker Championship.

The championship was played at the Aly’s Snooker Parlour located in Saddar area of Karachi.

An official of Sindh Snooker Association exclusively told Sports Encounter that both the finalists have qualified for the 32nd National Snooker Championship which is starting at Karachi Gymkhana from March 2, 2010.

He further informed that Farrukh Usman, who ended third in the competition, has also qualified for the national event while former world champion Mohammad Yousuf got a wild card entry into the competition.

Best of 11 frame final was played in a hard-fought manner during which, Abdul Sattar got the biggest break of 82 in the fourth game. The final score was 64-37, 1-84, 74-39, 82-0, 71-45, 56-86, 51-71, 81-0 and 63-18.

Honorary Secretary of Pakistan Snooker and Billiard Association (PBSA), Munawar Sheikh was the Chief Guest for the final.

The winner got Rs18,000 with cue, gift packs and winning trophy while Umair Alam received Rs12,000 from the chief guest along with cue, gifts and runners-up trophy.
