Karachi: On Ejaz Butt's claim that two Pakistani players were involved in match-fixing, Former Test Cricketers Abdul Qadir and Sarfaraz Nawaz have come up with contrasting views.

Abdul Qadir urged the ICC to unveil the names of the players involved in the match-fixing and feared that the claim would damage Pakistan’s image. Talking to News One TV, former leg-spinner expressed his displeasure over the way cricket affairs are handled. Qadir emphasised that for the betterment of Pakistan Cricket, whoever is involved in the malpractice, in spite of his status, should be sidelined. “No one is above the law, if even a big name is involved he should be punished”, said Qadir.

Abdul Qadir, who has also held the post of chief selector, proposed the formation of a committee consist of former players to fix the “mess”. “Committee of ex-players should be constituted to review the performance of each player and also interview them and on the recommendation of that committee the team would be re-shaped”, said Qadir.

On the other hand, former Test fast bowler Sarfaraz Nawaz believes it is highly likely that one of the two mentioned "match-fixers" was Wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal. "The way Kamran performed in the Sydney test (Dropped 3 catches and missed a run-out chance) made me believe that he was one of those mentioned by the chairman", said Sarfaraz Nawaz while talking to News One TV
