No referral system for BCCI's home series against South Africa

Mumbai, Jan. 31 : Team India will once again miss the opportunity to challenge the umpires' decision. The Indian cricket board has once again refused to accept the UDRS (Umpires' Decision Referral System) for the home series against South Africa.
UDRS allows players to seek a review of the on-field umpires decisions by the third umpire. The third official, after viewing the television pictures, relays the information back to the on-field umpire, who then has to decide whether or not to reverse his original decision.
The system has evoked mixed reactions with some players and officials saying that it undermined the on-field umpire's authority. However, the much debated system was to come in force from October last year but few countries including India have opposed it. The system has been in use in few countries but has never been tried in India.
According to the BCCI sources, David Richardson, the former South African wicket-keeper, who now works as a ICC General Manager (Cricket) was prepared to come down to India to explain the implementation of the system to the players, however, the Indian cricket board and CSA (Cricket South Africa) have mutually agreed for not using the system. Interestingly, South Africa cricket board has used this system in its home series.
The two Tests (Nagpur, Feb. 6-10) and Kolkata (Feb. 14-18) will be supervised by England's Ian Gould and Australia's Steve Davis. The match-referee for both Tests will be Andy Pycroft (Zimbabwe).
