Misbah heroic helps SNGPL to lift another national title

Lahore: Pakistan discarded batsman Misbah ul Haq inspired Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) with a 132-run victory against Sialkot Stallions to lift Pakistan National One-Day Cup at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. It was SNGPL's second title in recent months, won the Pentangular Cup last month and have been the dominant team in the limited-overs competition.

SNGPL after winnings the toss posted a roaring total, boosted by Misbah and Naeemuddin magnification contribution which was moderately defending by the bowlers to restrict Stallions at 152 in 29.5 overs with Kamran Younis was the only batsman scored 37 off 50 balls.

SNGPL after winning the toss off the mark with moderate start as despite with the loss of opener Ali Waqas for 15, Naeemuddin and Raza Ali Dar featured in a solid partnership of 50-run before Dar edged back to wicket-keeper Bilal Butt off Bilawal Bhatti for 23 off 33 balls.

Naeemuddin then anchored in another innings-building stand of 111-run with skipper Misbah ul Haq – who is in immense form and has so far scored 490 - top scorer of the tournament. It was anxiety movements for Naeemuddin – who when at 40, conceded seven dot balls to complete his third fifty of the tournament. He smacked three boundaries and a massive six over long-on off Prince Abbas.

Naeemuddin (84) – promising left-handed who also in great nick with 377 runs so far, including 90 against National Bank in the semi-final. But with the departure of Naeemuddin, SNGPL kept on losing wickets in regular interval of time but Misbah at other end looked solid and was more caution about his short selection, smacked 9 fours and one six towards his second hundred.

SNGPL stumbled quickly with star batsman Umar Akmal (nought), Khurram Shehzad (14), Adnan Akmal (9) and Imran Khalid (1) back in hut for just 38 runs leaving Misbah – who pushed hard to knock down as many runs to post a taunting target for Stallions to pile down.

Mohammad Ali and Bilawal Bhatti, the Stallions’ pace duo – who so far occupy the top two slots among the tournament’s leading wicket-takers with 15 scalps each.
