World Cup in New Delhi: Hockey training camp begins

LAHORE: A training camp of the Pakistan hockey team for the FIH World Cup is starting at the National Stadium here from Tuesday (today). All 24 probables invited to the camp reported to chief coach Shahid Ali Khan on Monday. “Two training sessions will be held on the opening day and we will be training seriously keeping in view the importance of the event,” Shahid told reporters. The World Cup will be held from February 28 to March 13 in New Delhi, India. Shahid said efforts would be made to weed out weaknesses identified during the two-test series against Holland in Doha, Qatar last week. “Our main aim is to prepare the team to produce good results in the World Cup. We are confident that we will be able to field a balanced combination,” he added.
