Komal Feroze smashes ton, makes U19 women's history

KARACHI: Young Komal Feroze’s bat produced fireworks at the South End Club here on Wednesday when the Lahore team opener registered the first century in any domestic U-19 cricket event for women in Pakistan.

Winning the toss, Lahore elected to bat first and put on 259 runs on the board while losing no wickets in the process.

Komal scored 120 runs off 90 balls with the help of 15 fours as skipper Bismah Maroof played a responsible innings holding down one end for her partner to do the scoring at the other. Bismah herself made 85 runs off 65 balls. Their opponents Quetta, too, were overly generous in giving away 54 extras.

Later, Lahore dismissed Quetta for 38 runs in 12.3 overs with medium pacer Farah Naeem picking up four wickets while giving away just six runs in the three overs that she bowled.

Komal Feroze was named Woman of the Match.
