Pakistan Premier Football League resume on Wednesday

Karachi , 3 October : The marathon Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) 2008 will resume on Wednesday, 8 October after Eidul Fitr with two matches at Karachi : KPT v KESC at CDGK Stadium and NBP v PIA at Korangi Baloch Stadium. Both the matches will kick-off at 4 PM.

The Phase-II will be comprised of 102 matches in between Eidul Fitr and Eid ul Adha and will come to finale at Army Stadium, Rawalpindi on 6 December 2008 with Army-WAPDA clash.

According to Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)'s Disciplinary Record, seven players will serve a one-match ban for earning two yellow cards in different games and they will not be able to play in the next outings of their team.

Two internationals - Nomi Martin Gill (Pakistan Navy), Muhammad Ahmed (Khan Research Laboratories) - will miss vital 11th October KRL - Navy clash at KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi. Lahore-born Ahmed's absence from KRL's defence will be noticeable who led Pakistan U14, U17 teams and also represented country in U20, U21 and senior competition : five levels of representation in all. Army's coach Saqib Abbas will be short of Muhammad Ramzan when the soldiers lock horns with bottom-placed PTV on same day at Army Stadium, Rawalpindi

KPT's Aurangzeb will not appear against KESC at Karachi's CDGK Stadium on 8 October 2008. Punjab Medical College (PMC)'s three players Bashir Ahmed, Muhammad Asif and Munir Ahmed will not be able to step onto the field when PMC will take on holders Pakistan WAPDA on 15 October at Railway Stadium, Lahore.

After completion of 80 out of 182 matches from 22 July to 1 September 2008, KPT led the table with 23 points, followed by HBL (21 pts). KESC and KRL are in third spot with 19 points each. Sensational Afghan Club is in fourth spot with 18 points while holders Pakistan WAPDA collected 17 points. Four-times champion Pakistan Army and first timers PEL managed 16 points. Next in line are Pak Steel 15, NBP 14, PMC 14, PIA 13, Navy 13 while PTV hit the rock-bottom with ten straight defeats.
