Pakistan Cricket 'PCB will have ample time to prepare' - ICC

Najamuddin Khan, Pakistan sports minister after taking hold of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) administrative, financial and operational powers, also expressed to attend International Cricket Council’s (ICC) board executive meeting in Dubai next month, at a very critical situation when Pakistan is suffering with bundles of International issues, however ICC believes PCB has enough time to prepare Sports Minister for the ICC Board meeting.

Some important issues related to Champions Trophy postponement, umpiring review trials in Tests and Future Tours Programme and a crinkling issue regarding India Cricket League will be discussed in the two day ICC executives Committee meeting starting next month.

Najamuddin, who is actually a politician by profession, and is a ‘States and Frontier Regions Minister’ with an addition charge of ‘Sports Ministry’, despite the fact that understanding the cricketing structure of Pakistan cricket and international cricket within two weeks is somehow a difficult job atleast impossible in a very brief epoch, PCB still sending sports minister to represent Pakistan in ICC's board meeting.

When Cricdb asked ICC regarding the Pakistan Sports Minister which is likely to attend the executive meeting and categorically which would be the first time in the history of the PCB, ICC’s spokesman said, “I’m not aware of a reason why Najamuddin would not be allowed to attend on behalf of the PCB, however, as the Board papers are sent out ahead of the meeting he or whoever attends on behalf of the PCB.”

ICC has also confirmed, in order to send ‘Khan’ as the representative in the ICC board meeting, ‘PCB would need to pre-inform ICC’ and regarding briefing to the sports minister before the meeting about the agenda of the executive conference, orator said “PCB will have ample time to prepare”.

Pakistan cricket currently facing one of the toughest times in its history, sending the minister in the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee, which comprises of the chief executives of the 10 Test-playing Members and three representatives from ICC Associate Members, and itself chaired by the ICC’s Chief Executive, and surprisingly a sports minister representing Pakistan in them, despite having its own competitive chief executive who had a experience and responsive regarding all ups and downs of Pakistan cricket.

However, with having a concise knowledge about Pakistan cricket how a sports minister would be expressing Pakistan’s viewpoint on the cricketing affairs and very important on the subject of Pakistan is still a ‘million dollar question’.
