PCB appoints security managers

Karachi: Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt said cricket in Pakistan suffered irreversible damage since the attack on Sri Lankan cricket team, almost a year ago on the third of March.

Although an inquiry report on the incident is still pending, a preventive measure taken by the PCB to prevent a similar attack is the appointment of security managers who will accompany the Pakistani team on its foreign tours apart from ensuring security for the board members.

The decision came after the appointment of four new governing board’s members in the PCB.

The first meeting of the body was held in Lahore where the members also decided to appoint a chief financial officer, apart from two security officials.

Pakistan’s dismal performance in Australia was also discussed in the meeting, while the board members also reviewed the clauses of central contracts of the players.
