Karachi: President of Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) Doda Khan Bhutto expressed Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed yousuf Raza Gilani keen to supporting to Pakistan Boxing for promotion of this game and country soft image globally.
According to the spokesmen of Pakistan Boxing Federation Doda Khan Bhutto informed Prime Minister highly appreciated to PBF effort for holding Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Boxing Tournament at Karachi and he say it’s a big honor for country such type mega event.
Doda Khan Bhutto was met with PM at Islamabad along with Olympic Medalist Boxer Syed Hussain Shah during an especial gathering with other Sports Federation at PM house on Tuesday.
Doda Khan Bhutto also informed to PM for Pakistan Boxing Federation is intend to hold another International Boxing Tournament titled as ‘1st President of Pakistan International Boxing Tournament 2010” during the month of July-2010, the schedule dates are 20th July-2010 to 29th July-2010,
It is anticipated that 40-45 countries will participate in this tournament in 11 weight categories (about 200 boxers) to build this healthy sport activity for about 7 days in Karachi.
Now Pakistan Boxing Federation aimed to seek out new talent from schools, streets, towns, there are great potential, skill but unfortunately this talent is being spoiled in unconstructive activities. PBF intends to motivate and groom their talent for bringing them in the national and international boxing arena. In this regard we have a plan to constitute four national academies in all provinces and no exorbitantly budget would be involve because coaching and training centers have already running in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore and NWFP under the patronage of Pakistan Sports Board, now need to be execute it only in proper manner under the suggestion of PBF.

PBF Chief also given plan to PM Pakistan Boxing Federation striving hard for preparation of impending Olympic Games 2012, Common Wealth Games-2010 as well as Asian Games 2010, but it is very difficult for PBF to meet the above targets in very constraint fiscal position, because only two million yearly grant is being awarded from PSB which is much meager and could not materialized our targets without enhancement of financial grant which should be increased to Rupees 10 million yearly.
Doda Khan Bhutto requested to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani PBF need special grant of rupees 70 million from Government of Pakistan for grooming of boxers for Olympic Games-2012 (London), Common Wealth Games-2010 (India) and Asian Games-2010 (China).
No doubt Pakistan Boxing Federation has proven track record and Pakistani Boxers obtained medals in all mega events i.e Olympic Games, Common Wealth Games, Asian Games and SAF games as well, and this progress can be improved by providing adequate financial grant, and we hope your gracious honor will come forward and help us in this regard in the national interest.
