Misbah secured a place in world Twenty 20 preliminary squad

Karachi: The squad includes seven players who have not been previously selected for a major international tournament. Controversial fast blower Shoaib Akhtar has been overlooked by the selectors.

While squad has been announced, the PCB has not yet announced the captain for the World Twenty20.

Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt told to Media that former fast bowler Waqar Younis has been offered the job of coaching the national team. He added that interim coach Ijaz Ahmed will remain with the side as a fielding coach.

Intikhab Alam was the coach of Pakistan until the disastrous tour of Australia, after which Pakistan 'A' team coach Ijaz Ahmed was handed the job for a two-match ODI series against England.

PCB chief Ijaz Butt said Tanvir will undergo knee surgery in Australia and that "doctors are not sure when he will regain the fitness."
Butt named 30 probables for the Pakistan team on Friday.
Tanvir, the 25-year-old left-arm paceman, was part of the Pakistan team which won the Twenty20 World Cup in England last year.

Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who has been out of international cricket for the last 10 months due to fitness problems, was also left out.

Butt said the final 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup _ beginning in the West Indies on April 30 _ will be announced on March 8
Pakistan are the defending champions of the ICC World Twenty20.
