Pakistan to treat 11th Asian Games as test case: Jakhrani

ISLAMABAD, Federal Minister for Sports, Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Thursday said that Pakistan would treat the forthcoming 11th South Asian Games at Dhaka (Bangladesh) as an important event for improving its image in international sports competitions.

In an informal talk with reporters, he expressed the hope that the Pakistani contingent would haul up a rich harvest of medals in the Dhaka event.

He said a countrywide talent hunt programme would be launched after the South Asian Games to find and groom budding sportspersons in various sports disciplines.

He said that the talent hunt scheme would be started in every part of the country including provinces, cities, villages etc."We will hunt down raw talent in almost all games".

He said that more facilities would be provided for the women players so as to encourage them in sports field also. "At the present moment we don't have any alternate players who can replace the current players", the Minister said. "The proposed talent hunt scheme will help explore alternate players who could replace the regular players", he said.
