Three league, five inter-club tourneys to be organized in 2010: New KHA President



Karachi: Newly elected Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) President Mohammad Wasay Jalil Monday said KHA will organize three league and five inter-club tournaments next year.

We will organize three league and five inter-club tournaments in the year 2010. We will try our level best to uplift the national game hockey in the city of Karachi. We would try to induce our youth in the game by making it popular through organizing lucrative tournaments much often, said Wasay during a press briefing.

Wasay Jalil, who is also Gulshan Town Nazim said that they would form teams of the 18 towns. Each player selected for the town would get a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000. The coaches will receive Rs. 25,000 monthly.

He constituted KHA Selection Committee headed by international player Mumtaz Haider, Discipline Committee, Umpiring Committee and Media Committee. He also appointed Olympian Iftikhar Syed as the chairman of KHA. Wasay further said that KHA now onwards will not allow any hockey ground to be used for holding functions. He further said that OISSA synthetic turf hockey ground will be inaugurated this month.
