KARACHI, Dec. 2 (APP): Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) in order to prepare second Pakistan string for Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Boxing Tournament is conducting a national ranking open event here at Trans Lyari Stadium Old Golimar Site Town here from December 12 to 16.
Besides affiliated units of PBF, all boxers from across the country desirous to feature in the event can take part in the 5-day competition, Secretary of the federation Muhammad Akram told APP here on Wednesday.
“We wanted to put the whole boxing talent on display through this event before the Cuban coach to prepare the best combinations for various international events,” he said.
He said Cuban coach Francisco Hernendez Ronald is very keen to have look at the boxers and finalize two Pakistan teams for the International competition to be held in the first week of January.
Akram Khan said they have organized the national camp in preparations for various internationals including next year’s South Asian Games and Asian Games was in full swing.
He said Cuban coach has also put a proposal of training and participation of Pakistan boxers in top class international event in Havana (Cuba) before the Asian Games.
PBF Secretary said that the proposal will be put before the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for funding the trip.
He said the entire proposal depends on the availability of funds from PSB.
