PBF Plan An International Boxing Event In Karachi

KARACHI: In a bid to clear Pakistan's image on the international level, Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) officials believe that the government of Pakistan must organise international events in Pakistan.

"We have planned Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed International Boxing Tournament in August this year. Everything is planned and what we need is a go ahead signal from the concerned government authorities," a PBF official told PPI.

He added, "I believe that the government of Pakistan must work hard to hold international tournaments of every sport as when the teams will arrive here the shadows of security concerns among foreigners will abate.

We are trying our best to clear the image of Pakistan and for that reason we have planned this championship. It would be very disappointing for the PBF if the government doesn't allow us to hold the said event," he said.

He further said that PBF have told the concerned government authorities that they would invite teams from 32 nations and they expect at least 15 to 18 countries to arrive here.

PBF President Doda Khan Bhutto said that he hopes that the government will approve the event. "We have sent a strong application and it lacks nothing so I am confident that the concerned authorities will give us NOC to go ahead with the tournament, and I believe this is not a big issue," 27-year-old Doda told PPI.

He added that events like this would prove vital for uplifting Pakistan's image that has been damaged after the attack on Sri Lankan team.
