Asif optimistic to return in Pakistan colors

Lundon Mohammad Asif, Pakistan's notorious fast-bowler positive about his future career and looking forward to join Pakistan squad in September. Asif attended a packed press conference hosted by and on the invitation of Dalawar Majid Chaudhry at Chaudhry's TKC Southall,

which was the official caterer for the Pakistani team to provide hospitality during the ICC World Cup 2007 in West Indies.

The event was attended by the media, community leaders, sports facilitators, youths & community groups. Asif participated in a Q & A session relating to his ban and his cricket career. Asif, 26,

said he was looking forward to joining the team in September, he applauded the Pakistan Cricket Board for its support. Asif promised to 'perform to excel and to be a great role model'.

Asif has been taking rehabilitation program in England to work his way back into form and fitness once his ban is over this year. Asif was banned from playing international cricket for one year, after being found guilty of using banned drug Nandrolone during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

One year ban, starting September 22, 2008, which means he would be eligible to play international cricket ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.

Later returning from India after participating in IPL, fast-bowler was detained in Dubai for possession of a banned substance but later was deported to Pakistan.

Asif praised Dalawar and said that "Dalawar has always been there for the Pakistan Team and has been a towering figure to them providing them with continuous support" whereas,

Dalawar Chaudhry praised Asif in his achievements & endorsed the fact that our sporting heros are the role models of our youth.
