Karachi : Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has validated its Director General (DG) Javed Miandad’s authorities and confirmed that the financial, international and administrative matters are not under his preview.
Miandad former Test cricketer & captain appointed as PCB DG on April 1st, will base in Karachi and following will be his assignments as he agreed. 1. Development of Domestic Cricket in Pakistan. 2. He will be Special Advisor to Chairman on Cricket. 3. He shall also be in charge of development of cricket in Pakistan and Women Cricket as per instructions of the Chairman PCB. 4. Financial, international and administrative matters will not come under his preview. 5. He will not take up any media assignment while service with PCB.
Former Pakistan captain, Miandad resigned as director general of PCB with an immediate effect following conflicts with the cricket board and claiming that he was forced to quit after the Board refused to give him enough authority. He stepped down just a day after the PCB removed Shoaib Malik to appoint Younis Khan as captain of the Pakistan team following a humiliating defeat to Sri Lanka that sparked huge criticism.
In last few weeks, there were several efforts has been made to patch up the conflict between Miandad and Board, as sports minister Aftab Shah Jilani as well as the Senate's standing committee on sports tried to pave the path for Miandad's return in the Board.
Miandad, has had three stints as Pakistan coach and with another distinct post in PCB, Miandad was one of the six former Test cricketers appointed by Butt after he took over as chairman PCB in October last year.
