Pakistan's sports journalists strongly condemn ICC move

LAHORE – The sports journalist community of the country from Karachi to Peshawar have come heavy on the ICC’s latest move of isolating Pakistan cricket by putting clamps on 2011 World Cup matches here.

In different messages the Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS), Sports Journalists Association of Lahore (SJAL), Sports Journalists Association of Faisalabad (SJAF) and Rawalpindi and Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) have strongly condemned the ICC decision of moving the ICC World Cup 2011 matches and secretariat out of Pakistan. The ICC’s decision has singled out the cricket-obsessed nation in the time of need.

These association members considered the ICC move premature and illogical. The Pakistan Government is taking all out measures to ensure the law and order situation in the country and the police officials responsible for security lapse during the Sri Lanka team terror attack have been punished and the investigators have made several inroads in its investigation. The findings as reports suggested have not being made public are for security reason.

However, the situation seems to be improving and God willing the country will have a perfect peaceful atmosphere by the year 2011. The SJAF is of the view that the final decision on the fate of World Cup matches in Pakistan might be put off for sometime. This sudden decision of the ICC would deprive the country and cricket loving people of international cricket activities.

The country is going through difficult times and expects the world to stay on its side in this period of crisis and stand united to defeat terrorism, which is being manipulated by forces out of Pakistan.
