Sports journalists make plans for future

KARACHI: The Sports Journalists Associaton of Sindh (SJAS) chalked out future plans on Wednesday in their maiden meeting here with the president Sardar Khan.
In the meeting, which was attended by the newly elected office-bearers of the SJAS, it was unanimously decided that the general body meeting of the association would be convened in the last week of this month to get approval of the major issues also including the constitution of the body.

The association also decided to initiate a programme under which the ailing and veteran sports journalists, who are unable to discharge their duties and are in need of financial assistance, could be assisted. It was also decided that ‘Meet the Press’ programmes would be arranged to which the sports dignitaries like the PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt, Federal Minister for Sports Pir Aftab Shah Jilani, and the president of the PHF Qasim Zia and the secretary of PHF Asif Bajwa will be invited.

It was also finalised that a directory of the members of the association will be prepared and the identity cards will be issued to its members. In the meeting those sports writers who have applied for membership have been advised to submit their forms along with the required documents as soon as possible in order to ensure their participation in the general body meeting at the end of this month.

The sports journalists from interior Sindh, who are willing to join the body, have also been advised to get the forms. Besides the president, the meeting was attended by the Vice-President Zubair Nazir Khan, Secretary General Rashid Ali Siddiqui, Joint Secretary Shoaib Ahmad, treasurer Ubaidur Rehman Awan and members of the managing committee Maria Noureen, Tariq Aslam, Alam Zeb Safi, Ishaq Baloch and Javed Iqbal.
