Sports ministery Stopped Pak. Hockey Team Tour To India

Karachi: Federal Minister for Sports Pir Aftab Shah Jillani
stopped Pakistan Hockey Team to tour to India on Friday.

Pakistan team was amongst the fourth team of 4 Nation hockey tournament
being played in Chandigarh, India. The other three teams are hosts India,
Germany and Netherlands. The tournament is scheduled to be playeed from
ist to 9th February 2009.

President Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF)Qasim Zia and Secretary Muhammad
Asif Bajwa already stated that PHF will follow the orders of Government of
Pakistan. Both officials also had a meeting with Pir Aftab Shah Jillani in
Islamabad on Wednesday regarding this issue. In which federal minister
assured PHF to give Government's decision regarding India tour with in a
week. Ministry of Sports finally stopped Pakistan Hockey Team to tour to
India due to the security concerns on Friday.

Secretary PHF Muhammad Asif Bajwa said in a statement that Pakistan will
not tour to India after the Government's decision, we were waiting for the
final approval from the ministry, now we will regard Government's
decision.

Indian Government already stopped their junior team to visit Pakistan to
play five test match hockey series against Pakistan juniors in November
last year.

"Pakistan Hockey Federation have good relationships with Indian Hockey
Federation and we both want to play with each other for the revival of
hockey in the region, but at this moment both the federations are
helpless, both federations have to obey their Government's decisions".
Asif Bajwa confided.
