Four-time Olympian and longtime field hockey administrator Manzoor Hussain Atif died Monday due to cancer. He was 80.
"He died of cancer early this morning," Atif's son-in-law Dr. Nadeem Afraz said.
Atif, who played left fullback for Pakistan, won a gold medal at the 1960 Rome Olympics and also took part in the 1952, '56 and '64 games.
He was manager of the Pakistan field hockey teams that won gold at the 1968 Mexico Olympics and the Los Angeles games in 1984.
Atif also served as secretary for the Pakistan Hockey Federation and the Asian Hockey Federation. He was the first non-European chairman of the International Hockey Federation's Rules Board in 1994.
