Pakistan Cricket , Fawad Alam's allround display ensures Pakistan win

Fawad Alam top scored with 83 and took 2 for 34 in Pakistan Cricket Academy's 71-run win over Kenya in Mombasa on Thursday. Alam and captain Khurram Manzoor, who scored 51, added 108 for the third wicket to post a competitive total of 252. Their bowlers responded well, taking wickets at regular intervals to reduce Kenya to 79 for 6 at one stage, which left the hosts with no hope of reaching the target.

Pakistan's openers Ahmed Shehzad and Raheel Majeed put on 37 for the first wicket after they chose to bat. However, fast bowler Peter Ongondo dismissed both batsmen in the space of six runs

However, fast bowler Peter Ongondo removed the two batsmen in a space of six runs to leave Pakistan on 43 for 2. But Alam and Manzoor led the recovery, and wicketkeeper Ali Asad scored a brisk 41 towards the end of the innings, to take their team to a defendable total.

The Kenyans never threatened during their run-chase. Their batsmen capitulated to the Pakistan pace attack. Fast bowlers Anwar Ali, Mohammad Aamer, and Mohammad Talha, each took two wickets; the only resistance they met was from Kenyan captain Steve Tikolo, who scored a quickfire 34. The lower order batsmen, Hiren Varaiya and James Kamande, batted well to take Kenya to 181, but a Pakistan victory seemed inevitable throughout.

Pakistan Cricket Academy 252 for 8 (Alam 83, Manzoor 51) beat Kenya 181 (Varaiya 47, Ali 2-28, Aamer 2-25) by 72 runs
